Personal Statement:
Dr. Henry Wong is a board certified dermatologist-scientist specializing in complex immune skin diseases and cutaneous lymphoma. He is Professor in the Department of Dermatology at UC San Diego and Staff Dermatologist at the San Diego Veterans Health System. He treats patients with debilitating immune skin diseases at the San Diego VA, UCSD and Moores Cancer Clinic. He directs a translational research laboratory studying genetic biomarkers in cutaneous lymphoma
.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and his MD, PhD from New York University School of Medicine with support from the Medical Scientist Training Program in New York. He pursued an Internal Medicine Internship at Barnes Hospital, Washington University in St Louis, Missouri, followed by specialty training in dermatology at New York University Medical Center.

After completion of his dermatology residency in New York, he served as a Major in the US Army Medical Corp at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Washington where he developed his research in T cells and cutaneous lymphoma as an investigator. He completed his tour in the US Army and was recruited to the Department of Dermatology in the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. After developing clinical and laboratory translational research in CTCL and complex medical dermatology, he took a faculty position at The Ohio State University to develop a skin lymphoma program at the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center. He was subsequently recruited to University of Arkansas as Professor to expand the clinical and translational research in skin lymphoma prior to recent move to VASDHS. His clinical interests have contributed to over 90 original research articles.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Society of Investigative Dermatology, Medical Dermatology Society, International Society of Cutaneous Lymphoma and US Cutaneous Lymphoma Consortium. He has served on AAD Committees. He serves on the editorial board of Clinical Immunology and has reviewed for numerous journals. He has received numerous grant support from Dermatology Foundation, NIH and VA Merit grant.
