The Veterans Medical Research Foundation (VMRF) is a private not-for-profit research corporation, dedicated its vision that every Veteran will receive the finest research-based care. We believe that those who courageously serve in our nation's military deserve exceptional care. VMRF’s mission is to enhance the health of veterans of all generations through research and education.
VMRF was established as a 501 (c) (3) corporation in the State of California in 1989.
VMRF is the second largest of 85 active VA Foundations, with an annual budget approaching $30 million and a staff of more than 250 employees.

VMRF’s primary objective is to enhance care for veterans by:
• Supporting new research and education projects
• Providing access to the latest drugs and technology
• Supplying computers, copiers, medical equipment and even buildings to support research.
VMRF currently assists approximately 115 VA Investigators with the administration of 211 active studies that seek to improve the lives of the nation's veterans as they cope with a wide range of physical and mental health issues. At the end of April 2008, VMRF administered the following types of research studies:
• 62 Federally funded studies
• 93 Industry sponsored clinical trials
• 25 Research study subcontracts
• 31 Private foundation funded research studies
