What we do:
The GeneChip Microarray Core provides access to high throughput sequencing based on Roche's GS FLX System.
The GS FLX+ System features the unique combination of long reads, exceptional accuracy and high-throughput, making the system well suited for larger genomic projects. The GS FLX System has been at the heart of key breakthrough genomic discoveries and over 1,000 peer-reviewed publications to date. Broad selection of gaskets and Multiplex Identifiers (MID’s) enables efficient use of sequencing runs. Included is GS Data Analysis software for de novo assembly, reference mapping, and amplicon variant analysis.
In Addition, the core also offers high-density oligonucleotide microarray technology based on the Affymetrix GeneChip and Nimblegen platforms. We also provide an integrated environment for data analysis, dissemination, and archival. These versatile platforms allows researchers to perform RNA expression profiling in multiple prokaryotic and eukaryotic species, as well as DNA genetic analyses such as single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) assays, resequencing, loss-of-heterozygosity, comparative genomic hybridization, whole genome transcription factor localization, whole genome location analysis by ChIP-on-chip, promoter arrays and mitochondrial mutation detection.
The GeneChip Microarray Core functions as the central Affymetrix and Nimblegen facility for investigators at the VA Hospital, the Moore’s Cancer Center, the general UCSD campus and other academic, non-profit organizations in the San Diego area. The core can also provide Affymetrix services for commercial enterprises.
