At any stage in the process, tissues can be examined by the investigator. With the Digital Streaming Output, an investigator need not be present for viewing of samples in the TEM. All images will be saved in the original Gatan format and as TIF or JPEG files, TIF files will be sent to the investigators. In addition, written protocols and complete data for figure legends can be provided as needed.
All recorded images on the laser confocal microscopes must be stored in personal folders. At the end of each session a folder of images can be transferred in two ways: (1) Images are saved as .mdb and TIF files to the microscope's computer, each investigator can easily download and store their data via access to their department servers (within the UCSD campus only) or through the burning of CD's or the use of USB Memory key/Flash drives. (2) Stacked (Z) images are to be saved as .mdb as well as TIF. MDB files contain all the original datafiles and require a special browser which can be downloaded to the investigator's computer from the Carl Zeiss website.
All files must be transferred from the Core Facility within 30 days or they will be deleted. Each investigator is responsible for backing up their own data. The Core Facility is not responsible for lost data.
We ask that all users of this facility be respectful of other's schedules. Please arrive on time and conclude by transferring your images before the next person's appointment begins.
