Tamara L. Wall

 


Tamara L. Wall received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology between San Diego State University (SDSU) and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She completed an internship and a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology at the University of California, San Francisco where she specialized in substance abuse services. Dr. Wall is Associate Chief of the Psychology Service and Director of Psychological Services for the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) and Professor of Psychiatry at UCSD. She is Associate Director of the Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology between SDSU and UCSD and Training Director of the VASDHS/UCSD Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Residency Program. Dr. Wall is an internationally recognized researcher in the etiology of substance abuse disorders with over 85 publications. She has been principal investigator on 13 grants from NIAAA and other public and private foundations to study how substance use problems develop and manifest themselves. She is an elected Fellow in the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science. She serves on the editorial boards of five journals and on the Board of Directors for the Research Society on Alcoholism.
